Go to Sally's Beauty Supply %26lt;or any other that sells hair color%26gt; and get a level 6 violet base color and 10 volume developer. You aren't going to find this at the 24hr drugstore or the local Walmart. I suggest Clairol. It is the easiest for non-professionals to work with. Mix the color and devolper with eaqual parts of each. Apply the color to all the hair. Allow it to process for 20 minutes. This should tame down the highlights and turn the orange into more of a burgundy color. If it doesn't, you will need the help of a professional there with you, not on the internet. Corrective color is complicated work. Professionals get paid very well when they can do it with skill and patience. It will help the professional if you can tell him/her EXACTLY what products were used, for how long, and the result of each process.

The reason the Burgundy color didn't take correctly on her gray hair is that most reds don't take properly on gray hair. Experienced colorists often mix a neutral of the same level of light/dark as the red to avoid just that problem. You should do the same thing when you do the newgrowth in 4 to 6 weeks.

I have no idea what u used nor the color u want but you can apply a dark smokey ash blonde shade in semi-permanent color to try and neutralize the orange. Do a strand test first and BE sure to DEEP conditon her hair.

Maybe u should try to call the color hotline number on the box of the product that you used and they can assist you.

Best of luck to you. Got to have mom looking pretty for Mommas day!

Blessings
