parents will ALWAYS be parents, just the difference in ages shows he she has been here longer and has a need to give you information she has learned along her path so if yu see the same things, hopefully you will dodge out of the way...

I faced what you're facing until I turned 40. I decided, you know what, I'm 40 years old, raised 3 kids, have my own house, and family..........I'm NOT a child any more! I told my Mother that.......it pissed her off big time, but she never treated me like a child any more either. Just stand up to your parents, not ugly necessarily, but firm. It WORKS! You will like yourself better after that too.

No matter how old we are, they are still our parents and we grew up respecting them. They see you as their little girl and always will. I guess it'll probably be the same for our kids! The only way to stop this feeling you have is to stand up and let them know that you are an adult and are able to make your own decisions, your own mistakes etc. It's your life to live and though they may want it to go in a certain direction, only you will have to live with the decisions you make. I bet they use the line 'you're still my child' to which you should answer 'I'm still your daughter but I'm not a child anymore'. Hopefully this will get things in perspective for them and you.
