I wouldnt suggest a home colour for doing it as they all contain a bleaching agent. My hairdresser has made me blonde before - I just went as light as I could without bleaching and it worked but I wasnt platinum or white blonde more of a honey blonde

If you don't want to bleach then go a very light kind of caramel blonde with some lighter highlights. It's wat my mom does to hide her grays.

Also for optimal results use two boxes if your hair is longer than shoulder length or you want it even lighter of the Garnier Nutrisse #90 to make your hair blonde. To keep your color vibrant what I recommend is using the Pantene Pro V Blonde expressions. With these tips you will have beautiful blonde hair without bleaching.
